Cold wave claims 1 life in Rajkot |

Rajkot, January 21 The prevailing cold wave conditions in the state have claimed one life in Rajkot in the last 24 hours.
The mercury fell to a record 1.1 degrees Celsius (down 3.5 degrees) below normal during the day in the Saurashtra-Kutch region. |

Naliya in Kutch district remained the coldest followed by Rajkot, which recorded a minimum of 6.6 degrees Celsius. A medium velocity wind only added to the chill.
The minimum temperature recorded at Jamnagar, Junagadh, Bhuj and Bhavnagar was 5.6, 7.5, 8 and 10.6 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, in Rajkot city, the Pradyumannagar Police said a 20-year-old migrant labourer died due to the extreme cold on Monday. | |
The deceased has been identified as Parmanand Bagdiram, a resident of Moriya village in Ratlam district of MP.
He had been working at a tea-stall near Jamnaka Tower for the last three months.
The police said he was shifted to the Rajkot Civil Hospital, where he breathed his last.
