Rinkal Makhecha, a student of Shri G K Dholakia School from Rajkot, secured the top position with 93.71 per cent. She scored 656 marks out of a total 800. In all, eight students from Saursashtra-Kutch, five from Rajkot, two from Bhavnagar and one from Surendranagar made it to the top-10 list.
Vishvas Bhimjiyani, a student of G K Dholakia School scored 92 per cent in the examination. He stood fifth in the state merit list and second in the Rajkot district. Parth Kadecha, also a student of the G K Dholakia School was ranked sixth with 91.43 per cent, followed by Sagar Kakkad, a classmate of Rinkal and Vishvas, who secured the seventh rank with 91.29 per cent. |

Vidhya Shah, a student of Saint Xavier's and Pratikkumar Roa, a student of Vishuddhanand Vidhyamandir-both from Bhavnagar-secured the eighth rank with 91.14 per cent. Kripalsinh Zala from the small village of Vana in Surendranagar district and Paras Viramgama from S G Dholakiya School stood tenth with 90.86 per cent.
Together with the eight toppers, Saurashtra-Kutch was also the centre with the highest pass percentage. Rapar, in Kutch district, secured a pass percentage of 96.67 per cent. In all, 212 students appeared in the examinations with 210 clearing it. Meanwhile, the overall results of Saurashtra Kutch region, including the 43 centres, was 83.8 per cent, nearly three per cent less than the overall state results.
Amreli centre with 91.45 per cent topped the list among urban centres, followed by Bhuj, 85.15 per cent; Bhavnagar, 81.39; Surendranagar, 81.18; Porbandar, 78.17; Rajkot, 77.8; Junagadh, 75.74; and Jamnagar, 73.44.
All the 12 students who secured berth in the Rajkot district top – 10 list were students of three schools – the S G Dholakia, G K Dholakia and L G Dholalia – of the Dholakia group. This is also the first time in the history of Rajkot district that the entire merit list belongs to one particular school.
Five of these students have also secured a rank in the state list. "We have only tried to bring out their talent. None of toppers had secured a rank in the district or the state in their class X exams," said director Krishnakanth Dholakia.
