The Rajkot Engineering Association (REA) is an organisation of the various Engineering Industries situated in Rajkot. It was founded in the pro-independence Era in 1943 under the name and style of Rajkot Manufacturers Association. Rajkot Manufacturers Association and Rajkot Industrial Organization (which was constituted later to take care of the Interersts of manufacturers other than Foundries) were merged in the year 1963 and renamed as Rajkot Engineering Association with a membership of about 100 units. It is incorporated under Bombay Non-Trading Corporation Act, 1959 and Association is considered to be one of the largest Engineering Association in Gujarat with a membership of 968 unites 99% of which are small scale industries.
Rajkot Chamber of Commerce has emerged as an apex organisation of Trade and Industry in Saurashtra region. Having established itself as a dynamic and vibrant organisation of trade and industry in Saurashtra, RCCI is acting as a catalyst in building Rajkot District & Saurashtra through its wide network of trade associations spread all over the Saurashtra & Kutch region. RCCI has emerged as the biggest regional chamber in the Saurashtra Region with large members base and commands considerable status. RCCI always appears in front for development of Rajkot & Saurashtra Region viz, providing Broad Gauge facility to Saurashtra region, facility for telecommunication at the concerned levels for microwave facility. We, Raghuvanshis were basically known to be warriors - Historical evidence confirms that in olden days when foreign countries attacked our Mother Land, we fought bravely. Gradually, we migrated from our original place and became more self sufficient through trade and commerce and spread out in all parts of India and later on in Africa and Europe. 100 years ago, a visionary - our Bhishmapitamaha, Karamvir Shri Kanji Odhavji - Profoundly known, as HINDOCHA BAPA could not bear to see the poverty,miseries and social ills prevalent amongst our Raghuvanshis. He spontaneously decided against many odds, to travel across the country deciding to move bare foot and with a promise not to eat sweets till he achieve his goal of uniting our Lohana Community and get them work for upliftment of their own people who were in distress.
